   Personal Philosophy/ Mission Statement

The most fundamental way we experience life is through our body. Through dance and movement, the body becomes an entry point into the complex network that comprises our entire being. We are able to explore our mind, body, emotions and spirit through the movement arts. We find our limitations as well as ecstatic expansion. We can experience community as well as our individuality through movement exploration.

Through education, research and experience, I continue to deepen my understanding of the importance of movement in promoting health and healing. Dance and movement can be a powerful form of self expression and creative artistic expression, as well as promote physical and mental health, rehabilitate injury and trauma, and reconnect sedentary individuals with their physicality. Pilates, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, Hanna Somatics, dance forms, improvisation, yoga, chi gong and outdoor activities are mind/body movement forms I utilize to benefit groups and individuals.

Dance and movement is the experience of the human being taking form. Because it is a universal human behavior, it contains all the richness of the human experience. I continue to explore, create and guide movement experiences for myself and others with the goal of increasing the awareness, well being and appreciation of living more fully embodied.
